Thoughts, stories and practical ideas for experienced teachers who still love teaching but know something about the way they’re working needs to change.

This is a space to talk honestly about what happens when you’re good at your job, still care deeply about teaching, but you’re exhausted by how much of you it takes.

When work gets the best of your energy and the people and things you love are left with whatever is left. When you can’t imagine doing another five, ten or fifteen years in exactly the same way, but walking away from a career you’ve spent years building doesn’t feel like the answer either.

I’ll be sharing articles about the questions experienced teachers often start asking at this stage of their career. Why has being this tired started to feel normal? What is it costing you outside school? Why haven’t the things you’ve already tried made enough difference? What could you change if leaving teaching isn’t what you want?

We’ll also explore the possibilities in between, from changing the way you work or reducing your hours to exploring something alongside teaching, redefining what ambition looks like or simply creating more room for the rest of your life.

You don’t need to know what needs to change yet. Sometimes recognising that you don’t want to keep doing it like this is enough of a place to start.
